The Celebration of Lithuanian Culture
The first reference to the name of Lithuania in written sources comes to us in the story related to the St. Bruno’s mission in 1009 as described in the annals of Quedlinburg, Germany (Annales Quedlinburgenses). The text written in the 11th century failed to survive and its copy made in the middle of the 16th century is kept in Dresden, Germany.
In 2009, Lithuania is celebrating a Millennium of its history and culture. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, has been announced European Capital of Culture’09.
The project:
“The Celebration of Lithuanian Culture” (Music - Fine Arts – Philosophy - Dance) has been created to celebrate the Millennium of Lithuania in USA involving world famous Lithuanian musicians, artists, ballet dancers, historians, and philosophers.
